Jasper Kamphuis - The AGE-RAGE axis in intestinal type 2 immunity

Jasper Kamphuis is currently Chargé de Recherche at the CNRS, based at the INFINITy laboratory in Toulouse. He performed his MSc thesis and internship with Bruno Sovran at Wageningen University, in his home country, the Netherlands. Bruno kindly introduced him to Vassilia Theodorou and Hélène Eutamène of the NGN team at Toxalim, and he performed a PhD thesis on the role of FODMAPs in visceral sensitivity and the gut mucus barrier here. He pursued postdoctoral research on anaphylaxis and mast cell biology. His current work focuses on the role of mucosal mast cells in intestinal inflammation and barrier dysfunction, with a particular interest in how dietary and microbial factors modulate immune responses in the gut. Jasper combines in vivo and ex vivo models, and immunological techniques to investigate host–diet–microbiota interactions. He’s excited to return to Toxalim and share recent developments from his work.
Jasper Kamphuis est actuellement Chargé de Recherche au CNRS, basé au laboratoire INFINITy à Toulouse. Il a effectué sa thèse de maîtrise et son stage avec Bruno Sovran à l'université de Wageningen, dans son pays d'origine, les Pays-Bas. Bruno l'a gentiment présenté à Vassilia Theodorou et Hélène Eutamène de l'équipe NGN chez Toxalim, et il a réalisé une thèse de doctorat sur le rôle des FODMAPs dans la sensibilité viscérale et la barrière muqueuse intestinale. Il a poursuivi ses recherches postdoctorales sur l'anaphylaxie et la biologie des mastocytes. Ses travaux actuels portent sur le rôle des mastocytes de la muqueuse dans l'inflammation intestinale et le dysfonctionnement de la barrière, avec un intérêt particulier pour la façon dont les facteurs alimentaires et microbiens modulent les réponses immunitaires dans l'intestin. Jasper combine des modèles in vivo et ex vivo et des techniques immunologiques pour étudier les interactions entre l'hôte, l'alimentation et le microbiote. Il est ravi de revenir à Toxalim et de partager les développements récents de son travail
