Freshwater ecosystems are biodiversity hotspots and are among the most threatened ecosystems on Earth. Indeed, drying networks are becoming more and more prevalent in response to climate change and anthropogenic activities, with dramatic socio-ecological consequences. However, intermittent rivers challenge knowledge in aquatic ecology and unsettle the traditional conceptions associated with streams and rivers. This seminar will mix results from ecological field campaigns and citizen sciences – an important aspect to consider when raising awareness on drying rivers under climate change.
