LIA HIDE / gr / dark art pop goth
Lia Hide is
an Athenian
prolific lady of dark, avant
-garde
, art pop.
With her same-
titled 'Lia Hide' band she is is performing, touring and creating. They fuse jazz
elements with balkan and cinematic music with the same ease they combine
progressive and baroque pop with indie and aetherial soundscapes.
She has
studied classical piano, operatic singing, music technology, advanced harmony
and songwriting
(MMus, BA, BBA, LGSMD and more)
.
The band functions both as
a three piece (keys+vocals, drums, bass) as well as a five piece band (with the
addition of guitar and trumpet).
Their first album, “Home”, was released by ΕΜΙ-Universal (2013). “Everyone
Seems to Know Who I Am”, 2017 (mastered by the multiply Grammy awarded
Adam Ayan) and “Tells no Fairytales”, 2019 (mastered by Denis Blackham) were
released by their own indie label,
DontHideMe
. They've also released “Fairytales
Remixed” (Amour Records) in 2020, during the covid-19 lockdowns, while in the
meantime they also compose music for theatre and dance productions (Copia
Aperta - Dario Fo, 2012, Genoktonia - Pavlos Kourtidis, 2019).
Lia Hide have
collaborated and performed with numerous acclaimed Greek and
international artists (Tricky, Joseph van Wissem, Anneke van Giersbergen,
Kadebostany, Keep Shelly, Molly Nilsson, Kovacs, and more) in diverse festivals in
Greece and Europe. They have toured Europe extensively and also performed in
Montreal and the US. Their latest European tour was a 40-day venture with 28
shows in 10 countries. They are currently setting the grounds for their next album
and are producing music for inspiring young artists. Lia Hide spend their time
between Athens and London when not on tour.
THE MISSING FOURTH GUEST
(2022)
“
The Missing Fourth Guest” is Lia Hide’s new album and borrows its title from
Plato's 'Timeaus' dialogue opening line. The songs talk about the emotional
struggles of the recent Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns, human mortality, and
the place of the modern man in the universe. Lia Hide's songwriting is clean,
pop, structured and lyrical, yet bears progressive music elements. Glitch and jazz
fragments,
screaming trumpets
, cinematic guitars and orchestral layers,
electronic sub drones and industrial noises,
baroque pianos and edgy brasses
that all dress up the clarity of the piano trio,
fusing pop with indie, avant garde
with dark wave.
The album was produced by Lia Hide, mixed by Ian Shaw at Warmfuzz
Productions, Florida, and mastered by Denis Blackham at Skye Mastering, UK.
The album has 8 tracks, including a three-fold major work, in Sonata form, the
Timeaus Sonata.

The band has invested a great deal in the visual presentation and promotion of the
album, and have so far released six of the songs of the album in major production-video
clips, with two more to follow in the upcoming months. With

headlining and winning multiple awards in global film festivals and competitions.
