The TaiwanICDF is collaborating with the Good Neighbors Global Partnership Center (GNGPC) and the Malteser International (MI) to co-host a forum titled “Mental Health for All: Psychosocial Support for People in Need in Emergency Contexts.”
The forum invites Taiwan’s Minister of Health and Welfare, Dr. Jui-Yuan Hsueh, to offer opening remarks. Ms. Blerta Spahiu, Head of Child Protection Sector of Terre des hommes Foundation, will moderate the forum. Additionally, there will be a keynote speech titled “Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) in Humanitarian Response: Global Initiative and Adaptation.”
Dr. Shur-Fen Gau, vice-superintendent of National Taiwan University Hospital, will share Taiwan's experience of strengthening mental health in the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Peter Kaiser, senior consultant for mental health projects at MI, will discuss the importance of including MHPSS within humanitarian response and existing health care systems. Ms. Cathy Wang, director of the humanitarian assistance department at the TaiwanICDF, and Dr. SEONG He Eun Marcellino, representative of Good Neighbors International at the Geneva International Cooperation Office, will jointly discuss building sustainable MHPSS during humanitarian crises. Finally, the Secretary General of the TaiwanICDF H.E. Amb. Timothy T.Y. Hsiang will give closing remarks.
Natural disasters and conflicts are driving the need for MHPSS. This forum will discuss how to better assist people in need by providing psychosocial support in emergency contexts, and exciting insights can be expected.
This forum will be conducted in English and will be physically held in Geneva. If you are interested in participating in the forum, please fill out the registration form (https://reurl.cc/6NR4ar). Please follow the TaiwanICDF’s official Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/taiwanicdf) for event information.
